What is calling? Is it some sort of experience? Is it a feeling? Does God have just one purpose in mind for us? How does lockdown and Covid-19 impact on God’s calling on my life?Read more
I don’t know you, as we haven’t met yet. But I speak with lots of people just like you every year. You’re thinking about doing a theology degree, as it combines your passion for God with a qualification from a university, but you haven’t decided where to study. You have been looking into a few universities and may have already been to an open day or two. And then you come across Reign Ministries?
My name is Pete and I head up the degree team for Reign Ministries and each year as I talk with prospective students, a common question I get asked is what is unique or different about the degree that Reign Ministries offers through ForMission College and Newman University? I could answer this in many ways, but my usual answer is around location!
Unlike traditional universities, if you study with Reign Ministries you won’t have to leave home, move into halls and live on the university campus. We offer a vastly different style of study. You stay at home and work in your own church. Or we’ll help you find a church if that’s better for your situation.
Each student receives credit for their work-based learning placement which counts towards your qualification, alongside the study and essays you complete. This enables students to be located all over the UK, from the Isle of Wight to Edinburgh, from Cambridge to Berwick on Tweed, from Coleraine to Chipping Norton. We even have students from Germany and Austria on the degree course. It certainly means that when you graduate, you will understand the youth culture in your community much better than someone who has lived on campus away from their home. Every church, every town is different from each other, just as unique as your fingerprint (but not as useful for unlocking your phone…).
Students still get to connect with other students regularly through our residential (currently online) training conferences and weekly cluster groups, but they don’t have that awkward transition to a new city and not knowing anyone to start. They can be impacting young people in their street, village or town right from the start, and know where young people meet up and what they do for fun.
So if you’re after an adventure from home and making a difference to your church and young people is a priority, investigate the degree programme on offer from Reign Ministries. You don’t have to move away from home and learn about youth work in a classroom for one particular culture; learn how to be a catalyst for change in your hometown. Request a prospectus from us today and grab a free chocolate bar in the process!
If you would like to explore further then please do get in touch with me, I would be very happy to go through the details.
