Pastoral care is so important to us! The phrase “pastoral care” could conjure up many different pictures, so let me narrow it down for you.
Pastoral care happens within the community of Reign Ministries because of two main factors; the people and the environment.
The People
We have great people in this community! This might be an easy thing to say but it’s actually true. From our passionate, fun students to our committed and faithful leaders. Having the right mix of people within our community enables pastoral care to happen. Let me give you an example. We have two leaders who have been with us for awhile – David and Linda Isgrove – and their hearts are for young leaders. For their equipping, their healing, their wholeness, their fullness, their leadership. They can be counted on to pray and to encourage. They provide and model pastoral care.
The Environment
We work hard at keeping our degree community a safe environment for our students. Not just in the “health and safety” type of way, but in the way that is based on the belief that individuals grow and learn best when they feel and know they are safe to do so. We intentionally work hard at upholding an environment that means students can come and simply be, where they can encounter, question, grow, try, fail, be vulnerable, be strong – and be cared for. This happens when we are all together and when we are in small groups. One such group would be in their cluster groups. These are small groups of students who meet online weekly to bring support – both with their ministries and personally. Our desire is that these groups would be a safe place to grow and learn alongside some other great people on the journey too.
From our passionate, fun students to our committed and faithful leaders – having the right mix of people within our community enables pastoral care to happen.

Alysen excels at developing people, so her roles at Reign Ministries help to support our students and staff to find their unique place and purpose in God’s Kingdom.
In June 2022, the staff team and some friends of ours will be walking a collective 100 miles to try and raise over £2000 to support the ministry of Reign Ministries. Would you consider giving a one off gift to encourage the team and help us impact even more youth leaders? At times it feels […]
I don’t know you, as we haven’t met yet. But I speak with lots of people just like you every year. You’re thinking about doing a theology degree, as it combines your passion for God with a qualification from a university… But you haven’t decided where to study. You have been looking into a few […]
What is Conference? This week (November 2021) our degree students are all meeting together for our second Conference of this academic year. Conferences happen bi-monthly, and are an integral part of life as a degree student with Reign Ministries. It is here that students receive interactive lectures facilitated by highly trained and experienced staff. All […]
Doing the degree with Reign Ministries doesn’t have to tie you in to a life of youth work. However, for many of our students, studying with us fostered a passion for young people and they are still involved in youth work years later. One such person is Josh! Josh was completing a gap year with […]

One of the things you hear from our students time and time again is that one of the best parts of their experience with Reign Ministries is the community that they become a part of when they’re with us. We asked a former member of staff, Ryan Murphy, to write a little bit about why […]
