Making disciples is at the heart of Reign Ministries. One of our key goals is to see a movement of disciple making communities all across the UK.
The Greek word for disciple is ‘mathētḗs’, meaning ‘one who follows another for the purpose of learning.’ Taking this, discipleship in its simplest form is following Jesus to intentionally learn from Him.
In Matthew 28:19 Jesus tells his followers to ‘go and make disciples of all nations.’ This command goes beyond making followers of Jesus. Instead it instructs us to make disciples who will go on to make more disciples.
What Does a Good Disciple Maker Do?
A succesful disciple maker is able to make time for the person they are discipling, share their journey, and bring challenge. It means intentionally taking steps within that relationship to create spiritual transformation. And then, in turn, encouraging that person to invest in the life of someone else.
Discipleship is a lifelong process of becoming more like Jesus, and helping others along that same journey.
How Do We Measure Disciplemaking within Reign Ministries?
We have a vision to equip and train 200 Disciplemaking Youth Ministers and 20 Movement Leaders. We believe that the scope for people to be transformed by Jesus is made so much wider when people are intentionally discipling people and in turn, encouraging those people to disciple others.
Our Expand Training Experiences offers both individuals and groups the opportunities to develop their discipleship practice. Participants are able to make practical goals for transforming their ministries.
“This community is so much more than just a training experience… We are, hopefully, a guild of youth ministry practitioners who are focused on personal life investment that will lead to spiritual transformation called disciple making.”
Once participants have finished the Expand training they are well trained and equipped to become disciple makers in all areas of their lives. Working alongside our leaders, participants will learn how to grow in their own relationship with God, and how to help others do the same.
Our Expand Training Suite is made up of both individual online training sessions and a more in depth series of in-person sessions for your whole youth volunteer team.
