Investing in Youth Leaders

Many churches, especially through the covid period, are having to monitor their resources very closely. I find it a challenging task as to where we prioritise our churches time and energy as well. However here are three reasons why we are prioritising investment in youth and other young leaders.

Young people keep us relevant to a world that needs to know Jesus. Working with young people can seem daunting and let’s face it sometimes they have strange ideas. It’s these challenges, and little ideas that keep the church sharp and help us to reach out to people who have no relationship with God. A lot of good cultural changes have come from our youth ministry that we can apply elsewhere.

The church is at risk of growing older and possibly fading away. The fact is that 1 out of 1 people eventually die. Everyone likes the idea that their investment in church will last beyond their years because we worked hard and did a good job. However, unless we are actively investing in young people, and raise up new young leaders, the church and our ministry will grow old and eventually shrink. Young people are very teachable, and when they mature, they lighten the load for us, and bring more energy than what we can possibly deliver. It also frees us up to reinvest our time.

Young people bring life. It’s always a privilege to see young Christians and young leaders growing in faith and falling in love with God. When a church sees that their hard work is making a difference they will be encouraged, grow in faith, and will continue to stay engaged in church life.

Young people are very teachable, and when they mature, they lighten the load for us, and bring more energy than what we can possibly deliver.

These are just three of many reasons why investment in youth and young leaders is so important. Is this investment also a priority for you?

Reign Ministries has developed a programme that gives young people the training, qualifications and support they need to pursue a career in youth ministry, as well as enabling churches to coach and equip their young people through a work-based placement.  Learn more about the way your church can take on one of your own young people as a student youth worker for three years.

Confident in the Gospel, but how about Reign Ministries?

It is becoming increasingly difficult these days to know and understand the theology behind a church or organisation.  A quick look on social media and YouTube will confirm that the pastor of a particular mega-church is the anti-Christ and spouting all sorts of heresy, but also confirms the opposite message that he or she are […]
