GreenHouse Gap Year

We are passionate about investing into the lives of young leaders who have a desire to pursue all that God is calling them into. Centred around discipleship, mission and youth ministry, GreenHouse is a ten month Christian Gap Year experience which will set the foundations for leadership.

The Gap Year focuses on nurturing your faith, deepening your relationship with God and those around you and bringing you experiences which endure as you enter into a life of doing all that God is calling you into.

You will embark on vision trips such as trekking the Lake District, lead young people on an overseas mission trip and engage daily with youth in the local community. You have the opportunity to journey with God to impact your life and those around you.

Here’s what your Greenhouse Project is like:

Three Vital Quests for your GreenHouse Gap Year

Explore Your Future

We want to help equip and release you for a future of Kingdom building. First you will explore your own strengths, personality, gifting and passions as you see how God has uniquely shaped you for His purpose. Along the way, you will be inspired by on-sight visits and stories of visionary Christians who have changed the world. You will receive training and support from coaches and a personal mentor. See what a life of youth ministry feels like and explore other avenues of mission to all ages as you take Jesus with you wherever you go.

Grow Closer to God

Effective mission and ministry must flow out of a full life with God. Whether you are a new Christian or more familiar with God, we will start with the basics as you are guided in spending time with God through Scripture and prayer each day. You will live in a community of other Gap Year students who can encourage you and sharpen you through regular weekly ‘huddles’. You also will go to six inspiring conferences – full of worship and digging deeper.

Impact Teenagers

Less than 1% of teenagers currently go to church. Most have never rejected God, they simply have no history or experience with Him. During your gap year you will learn to share your faith with young people in the local secondary schools and local community. You will also be equipped to disciple young people and help them grow deeper in their relationship with God. You will also have the opportunity to take youth outside of their comfort zone and watch them make big strides in their own faith, on mission trips.

What do Greenhouse Alumni say:

Gap Year Structure

The GreenHouse Gap Year includes teaching, youth ministry, mission trips, vision trips and conferences. While there is nothing average about your potential experiences, most weeks will involve the following;

Study Time
You will have three mornings of study time a week. You will be learning about the life and ministry priorities of Jesus as a group.

Ministry Time
You will have lots of time to spend working with young people. This may be in school lunch clubs, after school groups or even in coffee shop ministry. This is an opportunity to develop in discipleship and journey alongside others. You will also have time to participate in the life of the local community. There is a weekly time to prepare for the lessons and groups which you will lead.

Personal Faith
We love seeing God work through our students as they nurture and develop their faith throughout the year. Several hours in the week are spent in developing your personal faith and understanding yourself. This is time focussed on growing your relationship with God and understanding His strategy for discipleship.

Sharing Life with Each other
As well as participating in the life of the local community, you will spend time each week participating in life with other Gap Year students and the fun of sharing life together. You’ll carry weekly responsibility for caring for the home. There will be lots of time for new friendships and fun!
