I am just finishing the third year of ministry with my church in Birmingham.  Most of the youth ministry operates towards the building phase of Jesus’s strategy. We meet regularly giving talks and putting on events but we have been challenging young people to step out in faith, to really take on a roles of responsibility. We have done this through putting on youth led services within the youth group but also within the main church. We have been putting together a youth led devotional which encourages young people to sit down and write out a devotional and then we are recorded them into a c.d.

My discipleship group on a Wednesday night is more a an equipping group now. It is a group of four girls who meet and pray together but also have been taking on positions of leadership within the youth group. That has become more of leadership-in-training group. My role is much different from the one I started with at the church. At first, it was introducing change and really getting alongside young people. Now its more about me stepping back and young people stepping up and doing the same but giving them the tools to flourish in their gifting. It’s been an exciting placement!!
